The Global Health Peru Program at UPCH does not provide student housing options, however, if requested we can help facilitate students search for housing. Due to the complex nature of Lima’s public transportation and safety concerns, Global Health Peru Program recommends students to search for housing in the following areas:
- Miraflores: Miraflores is the main tourist and commercial district in Lima. It contains multiple shopping areas, parks, beaches and entertainment options. It is both safe and convenient. Students living here will be able to take a direct route to UPCH via the Metropolitano which bypasses the morning rush hour. Many expatriate and foreign students are located in this area and it should not be difficult to find a shared apartment or homestay with a Peruvian family. One can expect to pay between $300 – 400 USD/month for a room in Miraflores. We advise all students to seek out housing options here.
- San Isidro and Barranco: Both of these districts are located near Miraflores and are also viable options.
If students are interested in housing arrangements, they are welcome to search on the following websites: http://lima.en.craigslist.org/, http://www.adondevivir.com/; http://www.adoos.com.pe and http://urbania.clasificados.pe. Students are encouraged to find housing in or near Miraflores, which is one of the safer neighborhoods in Lima. Students will pay the host family or owner directly and NOT the Global Health Peru Program. The following google map will provide you with the locations of these districts as well as where UPCH is located. Please email
at least one month in advance to request for additional housing information. Please include basic information such as budget, preferred location and other issues
